For those with binocular vision issues, it can seem like they’ve been to every doctor and specialist possible. Unfortunately, for many of these people, their problems are never resolved and their condition goes undiagnosed, which means they have to live with the symptoms for years without seeing any relief. Such was the experience of Jeff S., who finally found treatment for his lightheadedness after a visit to the Neuro Visual Center of New York.

When Your Eyes Are the Problem

“Hi, my name is Jeff. I’ve been seeing Dr. Cheryl now for about six months. I initially came to her because I was lightheaded and a bit nauseous. I’ve been to every doctor on the planet, and when I came to her she told me that it all could be my eyes. She’s been testing me now, and for the last six months I’ve had a number of different pairs of glasses as my eyes have progressed. And it has made a difference, a positive effect.

“I would advise anybody that is feeling lightheaded (I’d been feeling lightheaded nonstop 24/7 for years), if you’re experiencing that, you might want to have your eyes checked by her. She’s warm and compassionate and will take the time to make sure that your eyes are the way they should be.”

Symptoms of BVD

Lightheadedness is just one of the many symptoms of binocular vision dysfunction, or BVD, a condition that can arise when the eyes are out of alignment. Even the smallest misalignment puts a great deal of strain on the eyes, which then leads to unpleasant and painful symptoms that can include migraines, dizziness and nausea, and motion sickness, in addition to the lightheadedness Jeff experienced. Fortunately, our doctors know just how to treat these and related symptoms that result from eye misalignments.

Treating BVD With Aligning Lenses

The team here at the Neuro Visual Center of New York offers a unique way to treat symptoms of BVD and other binocular vision disorders. By using aligning prismatic lenses, we’re able to realign the eyes, thus greatly reducing and often completely eliminating the symptoms caused by the misalignment.
