If you live on or near Long Island and you suffer from unexplained migraines and dizziness, the Neuro Visual Center of New York may be able to provide the answers you need. The problem could be your eyes. Our practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision dysfunctions that can cause tremendous challenges for people of all ages.
What is Binocular Vision Dysfunction?
Binocular vision dysfunction (BVD) is a condition where a person’s eyes are misaligned and unable to focus without effort – usually subconscious. This effort can put a good deal of stress on the eye muscles, leading to eye strain. This strain often results in a wide range of symptoms like double vision, dizziness, headaches, nausea, lack of coordination, difficulty reading and unsteadiness. Because each person can experience a different combination of symptoms, binocular vision dysfunction often goes undiagnosed or is misdiagnosed.
How BVD is Treated
Dr. Cheryl Berger Israeloff has more than 20 years of optometry experience, and is one of the few optometrists in the country to have been trained by Dr. Debby Feinberg of Vision Specialists of Michigan. She is passionate about providing patients – many who have been suffering for a lifetime – with answers to their questions and relief from pain and anxiety. Dr. Cheryl is the only optometrist on Long Island and in the entire state of New York with the specialized training to provide this unique treatment for problems related to binocular vision dysfunction.
Dr. Cheryl employs a number of advanced techniques to conduct extensive testing during a neuro visual eye exam. Because it is so comprehensive, this type of exam can take two to three hours to complete. She will then fit you with specialized aligning lenses (eyeglasses or contacts) that will reduce symptoms of BVD.
Our patients often experience an immediate reduction in symptoms, with further improvement after follow-up visits to fine-tune and customize their aligning lens prescription. The results can be nothing short of life-changing.
